Who we are
Jo Harrison and Laura Brown
Jo has a passion for upcycling vintage and pre-loved furniture and loves everything about interiors and styling. When she bought her first house, Jo realised she had a talent for pulling together interiors, which she later studied in between raising a family.
“By chance, in 2015 I painted some old furniture and was amazed at the reaction I received through social media. I soon realised that I’d gone back to doing what I loved most and set up a business upcycling furniture, which was great success. During this period, I’d formed a working relationship with Laura, so combining our forces and creating Jolaru was a natural progression for us all.”
Laura went to art college specialising in theatre and costume design. She has worked as a stylist and art director for almost 20 years. Recently, she has designed interiors for private homes, offices and public spaces.
“I've always been a magpie, drawn to the colourful, unusual and the eclectic and now I'm so happy to be working with someone else who shares my passion. Jolaru has given us the opportunity to combine our skills to create exciting, life-enhancing interiors.
We’re working together, reviving the old, bringing in the new. Making the everyday beautiful.”
We endeavour to use our combined creative skills to re-invent, renew and re-style interiors and furniture with a true passion for what we do.
Our aim is to give our customers the vision and help them see the possibilities within their own home. Using new or existing quality pieces of furniture and combining good design with function we encourage our customers to choose well .
Everyone should have the chance to create their own unique and inspiring environment.
